POST-DOCTORAL POSITION - BARCELONA
Description: Neurorepair Team (www.lin-bcn.com) at the Neurovascular Research laboratory (Vall d’Hebron Research institute, www.vhir.org, in Barcelona) is looking for a PostDoctoral Candidate to join the lab. during spring 2015. Our goal is to study both angiogenesis and neurogenesis in experimental and human studies to improve brain function and neurorecovery after stroke from a translational perspective. The candidate will participate in one project studying cellular and molecular markers of angiogenesis in a cohort of stroke patients under rehabilitation therapy, and posterior translation of the results into cellular and animal models. Also the collaboration with other projects of the lab. is expected.
Profile:
- Hold a PhD in Neurosciences or stem/progenitor cells fields received in the past 6 years
- Have at least 2-years postdoctoral training
- Competitive CV with at least 3 publications as first author.
- Adequate experience to conduct in vitro cell cultures.
- Previous experience in in vivo models (preferable ischemia) and accreditation for animal experimentation.
- Previous experience in Flow Cytometry will be valued.
- Fluency in English both spoken and written. The candidate must be capable to draft a manuscript.
Tasks:
- Conduct pre-clinical models of cerebral ischemia and behavioral tests in rodents.
- Study cerebral post-ischemic angio-neurogenesis.
- Cell cultures with different mature and progenitor cells.
- Conduct angiogenesis assays in vitro.
- Other techniques such as flow cytometry, gene silencing, etc…
Conditions: Applications to two different postdoctoral programs will be prepared with the candidate in September 2014. Gross salary between 27.000-40.000/ year. Additional benefits are offered by the institution.
